Riding Lights return to Exeter with Passion Play Inheritance

Following a highly successful tour in 2014, Riding Lights Theatre Company returns with its Passion Play, Inheritance, weaving the strands of the biblical Passion into a dramatic narrative, exploring in particular some of Jesus’ encounters with women in the gospels.

Inheritance evokes the community where Jesus lived, the people who knew him best, the powers that brought him to execution. And in the shadow of the cross it casts light on some of the women who Jesus stands alongside, sharing in their suffering.

Donkey Sanctuary launches annual car show

The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth is looking for proud owners to show off their cherished motors at its first ever annual Car Show this July.

There will be competitions for modern and vintage cars with categories including ‘Show and Shine’ and ‘Best in Show’.

Fabulous prizes include top ‘detailing’ kits kindly sponsored by Servo Engineering, Exeter.

Visitors can enter a free raffle to win a pressure washer and a range of cleaning products.

As well as admiring beautiful motors the show offers the chance to meet hundreds of rescued donkeys and mules on site...

They got to know old farming families, incomers and returnees. Boyzone to play Newton Abbot Racecourse

Bursts of colour spring up at Killerton

The garden and parkland at Killerton estate near Exeter, is one of the top places in the Southwest to see early spring blooms; and this year they are putting on quite a show.

Visitors are flocking to Killerton to herald the end of winter and see the carpets of cyclamen and swathes of snowdrops before they fade. Flashes of pink, purple, yellow and white can be found all over the grounds, with the magnolia, crocuses and daffodils also springing into life.

Choral Society features the work of an Exeter School pupil for the first time

For the first time, Exeter School’s Choral Society concert features the work of one its very own pupils.

Upper Sixth Former Fionn Connolly, who has recently received an offer to read Music at Cambridge University, composed Ring on Ring inspired by the poetry of Sylvia Plath.

2014 saw Pop-up Opera tour for three seasons, with over 60 performances at 42 different venues all over the UK and in Corfu. For Spring 2015, they’re coming back with Mozart’s comic opera Die Entführung aus dem Serail (The Abduction from the Seraglio) about a hero, Belmonte, and his servant, Pedrillo, attempting to rescue their lovers Konstanze and Blonde from an Ottoman harem.
