One of the South West's most exciting theatre companies, Live Wire Theatre, has been awarded grants by the Arts Council England, The Big Lottery and the Bath and North East Somerset Arts Development Fund to stage a production of a newly commissioned comedy play written to celebrate The Rugby World Cup 2015 which is to be hosted in England and Wales this Autumn.

The new comedy intriguingly entitled Hands Up for Jonny Wilkinson's Right Boot by award winning writer Dougie Blaxland will open at The Cotswold Playhouse Stroud on September 10th before touring the South West for the six weeks of The Rugby Wold Cup Tournament.

West Counry audiences will be able to enjoy this inventive and highly entertaining piece of family theatre when it comes to The Barnfield Theatre in Exeter on Friday and Saturday, 16 and 17 October.

Hands Up for Jonny Wilkinson's Right Boot relives many of the highs and lows in the 150 year history of Rugby Union in a fast-paced, high energy piece of the theatre full of song, rhyme and physical comedy.

Live Wire Theatre has also announced the appointment of Shane Morgan as the director of Hands Up for Jonny Wilkinson's Right Boot. Shane, who is well known by theatre audiences across the South West for his work at prestigious venues including the Tobacco Factory and The Theatre Royal Bathhas most recently received critical acclaim for his direction of The Tenant of Wildfell Hall which toured the region as part of Butterfly Psyche's hugely successful Bronte Season.
