Killerton drawing master art exhibition

Killerton House, near Exeter, is to host its first historic fine art exhibition. ‘Framing the view: Nicholson, the Killerton drawing master’, presented by guest curator Professor Gordon Bell, will launch on Sunday 17 May and runs until 13 September.

The exhibition features over 50 watercolours and lithographs by artist Francis Nicholson, drawing master and art teacher to the Acland family. Exhibition showcases creativity of students, staff and alumni

A showcase of shortlisted entries to the Paddon Award, a cross-arts competition for University of Exeter students, staff and alumni will be on display in the University Reception area on the Streatham Campus. The X Factor auditions are back on the road in search of the best and freshest vocal talent as it looks to uncover the nation’s next big singing star.

The UK’s favourite singing show will be visiting Exeter on Friday 22 May with auditions taking place in Princesshay. Auditions will take place from 9am – 6pm.

This is part of the shows biggest ever audition tour, which will visit an unprecedented 50 towns and cities across the length and breadth of the UK and Ireland, as this year we are bringing the auditions directly to you!

On Friday 15 May at 5pm the Mayor of Exmouth will announce cider festival, Scrumpstock, for a weekend of festivities at Exmouth Rugby Club. Exmouth’s Town Crier will also be in attendance.

Exmouth’s Mayor Bill Nash says: “Exmouth Town Council is dedicated to support interest, festival and leisure activities for residents and visitors alike in Exmouth. We welcome the Scrumpstock Festival here starting on the 15th May at the Exmouth Rugby Club and wish it every success".

Police crackdown on illegal raves

Devon and Cornwall Police are calling upon the public to help them prevent and disrupt illegal raves over the busy May Bank Holiday.

The Force will be running Operation Derig to take a tough stance against rave goers and organisers by closing down illegal gatherings.
