The exetreme imagination festival of writing and stories has started with an outdoor extravaganza, creative workshops and performances around Exeter.

Events so far have included:

Students at Dawlish Community College took part in a workshop as part of exetreme imagination, Exeter’s festival of writing and stories.

Spaces to be Yourself focused on the themes and characters found in Meg Rosoff’s young adult novel How I Live Now. Participants were encouraged to explore how protagonist Daisy’s life is changed when she is forced to live in an environment which is totally alien to her, and to reflect on how spaces, both familiar and unfamiliar, affect their own experiences and emotions.

Spooky goings on are taking place at parks, gardens and nature reserves across Teignbridge next week.

There are Halloween events taking place at Victoria Park, Buckfastleigh and Shaldon’s Homeyards Botanical Gardens where Teignbridge will be working with local groups to make the events spook-tacular! Everyone is welcome.

Local mums launch pop up children's market in Exeter

Two local mums are launching a brand new pop up children’s market this month. The Cheeki Monkeys preloved sale will open it’s doors at the end of the month and, along with lots of bargains for mums and dads to browse, will also feature a ton of exciting entertainment for the kids. Taster sessions will be available from Rugby Tots, Pyjama Drama and Urban Flow to keep the little ones amused whilst the grown ups shop. Dartmoor’s stunning landscape, ever changing weather and fascinating folklore is an inspiration for many film makers and this year it has again worked its magic on 13 young people aged between 8 and 16 from the Buckfastleigh area.

Working with Jellyfish Productions, as part of Dartmoor National Park’s Naturally Healthy Project, the young film makers have created two incredible, atmospheric and spirited short films My Dear Mother & The Old Church Mystery.
