Exeter College Christmas Concert supports Devon Air Ambulance

This Christmas Exeter College invite the public to join them in their festive celebrations and support Devon Air Ambulance (DAA). Exeter College’s Festival of Carols will be held on Thursday 8th December at Exeter Cathedral in aid of DAA as the College’s chosen Charity of the Year.

This event is open to the public and free of charge, in turn the College would like to collect donations at the end of the evening for DAA. The festival will run from 7:30pm to 9pm, with doors opening at 6:30pm.

A new exhibition of woodblock prints from one of the best known of all Japanese artists starts at Exeter’s Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery (RAMM) on Tuesday 29 Nov 2016: Hiroshige’s Japan: Stations of the Tōkaidō Road.

The exhibition features 21 prints from Fifty-three Stations of the Tōkaidō Road, the series that made Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858) famous. Devon and Cornwall Police and Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service have come together to issue a joint community message across our region encouraging those celebrating Guy Fawkes Night to remember that fireworks are explosives and should be respected.

Devon’s latest Inde band sensation The Loft Club have released their music video - filmed at Exeter’s Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM) and featuring Gerald Exeter’s iconic giraffe - to accompany their first EP: Heart’s Desire.

Singer-songwriter Daniel Schamroth said "RAMM was our dream location for the music video as it's such visual feast! We are honoured to be the first band to be allowed to film there, thanks to all the kind staff and of course to Gerald the Giraffe who was the star of the show!"

An opera performance threatened with cancellation because of the fire in the centre of Exeter will now go ahead thanks to staff at the Guildhall.

Staircase Opera’s performance of Menotti’s ‘The Medium’ was due to take place at the Devon and Exeter Institute tonight, Thursday and Friday. However the Institute, which is located on the Cathedral Green, is currently within the safety cordon brought about as a result of the fire at the Royal Clarence Hotel at the weekend.
