First World War exhibition opens at RD&E Hospital

A photographic exhibition which gives an insight into Devon’s war hospitals during the First World War (1914–18) has opened at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

‘Devon Caring in War’ includes a series of images showing how the county’s war-wounded were cared for on their return home, including by the use of some pioneering therapy techniques.

The exhibition is part of the Devon Remembers Heritage Project which is run by the South West Heritage Trust with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund. The project aims to give local people an opportunity to explore the county's...

The University of Exeter’s a cappella group Semi-Toned has won a tense sing-off against rival student band Sweet Nothings, and were chosen to represent the South West in Gareth Malone’s TV search for the nation’s most talented and entertaining amateur choir.

All-male group Semi-Toned vocally squared up to the all-female group Sweet Nothings, with both singing electrically charged versions of Britney Spears’ …Baby One More Time for Gareth to judge as part of his series The Choir: Gareth’s Best in Britain. The eerie atmosphere lingered above the crowd like ominous fog suddenly appearing in a thriller movie. The crowd were born ready, but were the security guards? We were soon to find out.

It's Friday the 11th of November and The Great Hall in Exeter held the gig of the year, feeding us the reckless punk-duo, Slaves. Laurie Vincent and Isaac Holman both from Kent, changed the norm and brought punk back to our charts in 2014. Formed in 2012 the duo signed to Virgin EMI in 2014 releasing their most popular song ‘The Hunter’ that November.

Peace and Goodwill: Faure Requiem in Exeter

Join Exeter Choral Society for our winter concert on the theme of Peace and Goodwill.

Killerton to sparkle with Brothers Grimm fairy tales

A Brothers Grimm spell has been cast over Killerton this Christmas.

For the first time, the National Trust property will be transformed into classic fairy tales with a festive twist from Saturday 19 November.

Each year, to celebrate the start of Christmas at Killerton, the staff step out of their day jobs and ‘get into character’ for the festive theme with a specially commissioned photoshoot. 200 free theatre tickets for Exeter students

As a result of a new partnership between The Bike Shed Theatre and Hawksmoor Investment Management, two hundred young people from Exeter’s secondary schools and colleges will be given the opportunity to go to the theatre.

Complimentary tickets will be given to students who might not ordinarily be able to attend. Visiting in small groups up to five, they will also have the chance to meet the cast and the creative team to find out more about the production and how new shows are created.
