The State of the UK’s Festival Scene

The UK’s festival scene is larger than ever before, with major festivals like Glastonbury, Latitude, and Reading and Leeds, as well as smaller festivals like BST Hyde Park and Boardmasters coming up behind them. However, just because your favourite artist always seems to be attending a festival or two, that’s not to say that the UK’s festivals aren’t seeing challenges and complications relating the way that they’ve always been run. Calling wildlife and countryside photographers

East Devon District Council has launched a competition to find the best photographs of the East Devon Countryside for the Wild East Devon 2019 calendar.

The competition opens on Sunday 1 July 2018 and entries can be sent until Friday 31 August.

All photographs must be taken in East Devon and can be of views, wildlife, wildflowers or trees.

Entrants can enter up to three of their best, high resolution photographs in the competition by emailing them to wild@eastdevon.gov.uk

Exmouth’s new Queen’s Drive Space events area will take on a distinctly Russian theme on Saturday (June 23) with a live performance of The Cherry Orchard which is being staged by the Miracle Theatre Company.

The production is the second in a series of theatre and music events on the new site this summer and the venue is already proving to be very popular with people of all ages.

Last week more than 250 people enjoyed Swan Lake which was streamed live to a big screen in the events area from the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden.
