Meridian RAW CIC, the Exeter-based social enterprise, has announced an exhibition at the Exeter Picturehouse to celebrate the culmination of their community project in central Exeter.

This diverse exhibition is part of the Our Lives, Our Community, Our Voice project which was a two-year community project in Exeter and used photography as a means of engagement and empowerment.  The project was managed by the Olive Tree Association/Devon Grapevine in partnership with Meridian Raw and has been generously funded by the People’s Health Trust.

The exhibition takes place at the Exeter Picturehouse gallery on Bartholomew Street West from Tuesday 3rd November until Tuesday 8th December.  There will be over forty images on display, all captured by the participants working on the project.

The main aims of this project were to bring people from the Exeter community together through photography and to allow then to develop their own photo-stories and to leave a lasting legacy in the city.  Meridian Raw CIC and Devon Grapevine achieved this by delivering six comprehensive participatory photography courses, each lasting a total of fourteen weeks in various locations in the city centre of Exeter.  Three, 2-day ‘Train the Trainer’ sessions and a number of photography trips to Cricklepit Mill, Exeter Synagogiue and Exeter Mosque.

Over the two years we have partnered and collaborated with a number of local organisations, including St Sidwell's Community Centre, The Bridge Collective, Hikmat Devon CIC, Mind in Exeter and East Devon and we have also worked with over 50 participants.
