Exeter-based housebuilder Persimmon Homes South West has donated £2,000 to Bowhill Primary School to help enhance its outdoor learning space. The generous contribution was made as part of the company’s Community Champions scheme and was presented to staff and pupils on the final day of term.

Situated in the heart of the St Thomas community, Bowhill Primary is raising funds to improve its outdoor area, particularly for its youngest pupils. Used daily, this space plays a key role in early years learning, offering children vital opportunities to explore nature, develop motor skills, and spark creativity through imaginative play.

The £2,000 donation will go towards purchasing new writing tables, maths-focused equipment, and small world resources — all of which support hands-on, outdoor learning.

Stacey Harris, Sales Director at Persimmon Homes South West, said:
“As a local developer, we’re passionate about giving back to our community. When we heard Bowhill needed support for their outdoor area, we were more than happy to help. This is exactly what our Community Champions initiative is all about.”

Bowhill’s Headteacher, Anna Lopez, expressed her gratitude:
“Many of our children don’t have gardens or access to safe, green spaces at home, so our outdoor area is essential. Persimmon’s support brings us closer to creating a better environment where our pupils can learn, explore, and thrive.”

Persimmon currently has two developments near Exeter — Ashworth Place in Tithebarn and Galileo in Cranbrook — offering homes from £249,995.

The Community Champions scheme donates £700,000 annually to support grassroots organisations across the UK. Recent recipients include Royal Devon Hospitals Charity, Hospiscare, and several local youth sports teams.
