Manic Chord Theatre's production of 'After What Comes Before' at the Bike Shed Theatre last Monday (17th March), was a real treat for the senses, leaving the audience in fits of laughter from start to finish.

The story follows a Neuroscientist, Psychologist and Physicist as they try to create a machine which can extract thoughts. Highly energetic and playful, the company submerged the audience in a mad world of Quantum partying, flying cashew nuts and absurd game play. Surprising twists in the tale kept our attention firmly on the three confident young men on stage as they took us on a journey told with genuine feeling.

The talent of the Manic Chord boys was incredible to see, especially considering they only graduated two years ago from Leeds University, and are all aged between 21 and 23 years old. They have already performed an impressive range of works, all over the country.

'After What Comes Before' incorporates an intelligent mixture of witty slapstick and poetic humour to create a world with characters you can really empathise with and enjoy. The stage timing and script were clearly well-rehearsed, making the audience feel very comfortable and welcome.

The trio were in the South West for a week in total, as prior to their performance at the Bike Shed Theatre they were working on another show, 'The News'. They said they had a “lovely few days” here in Exeter, and luckily the sun came out to see them too.
