24 July 2025 – Exeter:
A powerful and uplifting art exhibition titled ‘This City We Live In’ is now open to the public at CoLab Exeter, running from 24 July to 16 September 2025. The exhibition is free to visit Monday to Friday, 10am–1pm and 2pm–4pm, at Wat Tyler House, 3 King William Street, Exeter, EX4 6PD.

The exhibition features artwork created by people supported by local charities Julian House and CoLab through a creative group called CoLab Creativity. The group is funded by the Urban Learning Academy (ULA) via the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Since launching in September 2024, CoLab Creativity has brought together local adults, including those facing difficult circumstances, to explore creative expression in a supportive environment. The group is co-led by tutors Charlie Nixonand Sibell Barrowclough, who have seen group members thrive artistically and personally.

“Attendees have told us that the group gives them purpose, connection, and a space to be creative,” said Charlie Nixon, Activities Coordinator at Julian House.
“Many say it’s been a lifeline during tough times.”

The artwork on display reflects a range of media including painting, sculpture, and mixed media, and offers insight into the lives and resilience of participants. The exhibition is both a celebration of their achievements and an invitation for the wider public to reflect on the role of creativity in healing and community building.

“This exhibition showcases incredible work made by many hands,” said Sibell Barrowclough. “It’s a chance for people to celebrate their talent and growth.”
