Cumberland Grange care home in Exeter recently presented Honiton Carers Support Group with a cheque for £1,000 to support towards the cost of transport to enable their participants to attend the group. Honiton Carers Support Group is a warm and welcoming Carers Group which supports unpaid carers throughout their caring role and beyond. The Song Cyclists, a group of five singers taking on an unprecedented challenge as they cycle from John O’Groats to Land’s End giving a concert every evening along the way to raise £20,000 for the UK’s largest mental health charity Mind.

They will be singing at The Old Firehouse at 8pm on Thursday 19th July, performing a mixture of pop, folk and a cappella; entry is free with a retiring collection.

140 walkers united to step closer to a cure for Parkinson’s on Sunday 24 June when they took on the Walk for Parkinson’s event at Budleigh Salterton in East Devon.

The walk was one of 37 taking place across the UK throughout 2018 to raise vital funds for the charity Parkinson’s UK. Fundraisers chose either a 1.2-mile, four-mile or 6.75-mile route along the South West Coastal Path from Budleigh Salterton to Otterton. Parkinson’s UK expects to raise £7,000 from the event. The sky is the limit for Exeter Lions Club President Julian Chadwick who is taking up the challenge of lifetime and making a tandem skydive from 10,000 feet in aid of The Lions International Blood Research Appeal (LIBRA) – a charity which raises funds to tackle blood cancers.

Julian is set to make his sponsored jump on his 72nd birthday on 1st July 2018 at the Dunkeswell Aerodrome. He is making the special birthday jump in memory of the well-known Exeter Lion President Mike Welsh who sadly died of Acute Myeloid Leukaemia.

As the nation prepares to Bake for Heroes, six novice bakers have been discovering the benefits of baking for their wellbeing thanks to Help for Heroes’ Plymouth Recovery Centre and the Column Bakehouse in Devonport. Team Mi-space complete 145-mile cycle challenge and raise £15,000 for prostate cancer

Mi-space employees have conquered the two-day, 145-mile cycle challenge, Football to Amsterdam 2018, smashing their £10,000 fundraising target for Prostate Cancer UK along the way.

At the beginning of June, intrepid staff from Mi-space, AJ Eaton, Matt Howells and Sam Heritage, along with teammates from Exeter City Football Club and other partners, travelled to London to start the first leg of the cycle that ultimately ended with the team triumphantly crossing the finish line in Amsterdam.
