Exeter woman defies stroke at 29 to launch stand-up comedy career

An Exeter woman who had a stroke aged just 29 has turned to comedy to help rebuild her life and confidence.

Molly Kinsey’s act focusses on the chaos of being a mum to her young son, and audiences are stunned when she reveals that she is a stroke survivor. She is determined to show that she isn’t letting the memory problems, fatigue, and eyesight problems she’s been left with since her stroke in 2022 stop her from following her passion.

WESC Foundation is inviting staff at businesses around Exeter to gather their cleverest colleagues together for a charity pub quiz to help raise funds for blind and partially-sighted children and young adults.

Sponsored by LV=, the Exeter-based charity is hosting another fundraising quiz at its Topsham Road campus on Thursday 17th October 2019 at 7pm. WESC Foundation supports children and young adults with visual impairment. All the young people also contend with other additional needs such as autism, cerebral palsy and, sadly, life limiting illnesses too.

Educated Recruitment are thrilled to announce that at their event on Friday evening they had raised a huge £1063.58p for Children’s Hospice South West through the £50 Challenge.

Starting with only £50 given by the charity the ER team organised a big event with intention to multiply the money given held at Coombeinteignhead Village Hall. The night included a quiz, raffle, a silent auction and a disco to round off the evening!

Escot House has been confirmed as the venue for a fundraising dinner organised by the Red Squirrel South West Project on October 18.

The project is committed to the restoration and protection of red squirrels in the South West of England.

Air Marketing Reign Victorious in Children's Charity Sports Day

Last week, national children’s charity CHICKS challenged local Exeter businesses to compete in their Superstar Games. A first for the charity, the games were held in Princesshay in Exeter City Centre and sponsored by Ashley House Printing, with teams headed up by Smart Estate Agents, Attention Media, KTA, Air Marketing and a mixed team of people from various businesses. Travel agents send 6-year-old to Disney after cycle challenge raises £10,000

STAFF from eight Hays Travel branches have taken part in a cycle challenge alongside the firefighters from MiddlemoorFire Station who have cycled from Exeter to Basingstoke over a two day period this month.

The travel agent staff matched the firefighters’ miles using exercise bikes in the eight shops along the route.

On the 30th of May this year, firefighters from the Exeter group of the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue service rescued Amelie Aitken from a terrible road traffic collision. Tragically her father passed away at the scene.

Exeter Historic Guildhall was a hive of concentration for The Family Law Company’s quiz night in aid of Citizens Advice Exeter.

Teams battled it out for the coveted top spot, answering questions on topics including sport, current affairs and song lyrics.
