Air Marketing Reign Victorious in Children's Charity Sports Day

Last week, national children’s charity CHICKS challenged local Exeter businesses to compete in their Superstar Games. A first for the charity, the games were held in Princesshay in Exeter City Centre and sponsored by Ashley House Printing, with teams headed up by Smart Estate Agents, Attention Media, KTA, Air Marketing and a mixed team of people from various businesses. The teams went head to head in classic heats of the three-legged race, egg and spoon, obstacle course and a Shrek-themed relay in an effort to raise local awareness and funds for the Devon-based charity.

So far this year, CHICKS has provided free-of-charge respite breaks to over 400 children who are living in the most vulnerable and deprived situations. Whether they are living in poverty, young carers, victims of abuse or coming to terms with losing a loved one, their respite break is only made possible through voluntary donations.

CHICKS was inspired to hold the Superstar Games to find a new way to connect with Exeter’s business community based on the same values embedded in the children’s breaks such as having fun, making new friends and creating positive summertime memories.

MC Ian Dunston declared Air Marketing the victors; using their inner sales competitiveness to push for the winning slot. The games closed with celebratory drinks hosted by Artigiano, and attendees were said to be feeling a sense of pride in being able to show support for such an important cause.

The respite breaks enable children to have much needed time away to play in a safe environment, spend essential time away from their otherwise challenging situations and try new activities that boost their confidence. This year, the charity needs to raise £1.8 million to provide their services and events such as this help enormously in reaching this goal.

Caroline Burkie, Director of Fundraising for CHICKS, said: “A huge thank you to the Exeter business community for taking the time out to take part in this event.  We have been blown away by the amount of enthusiasm and drive from the teams wanting to get involved and show their support. Every opportunity counts when it comes to funding our essential respite breaks, and if you are looking to form a charity relationship, raise money and have lots of fun then we’d love to speak with you.’
