Cumberland Grange care home in Exeter recently presented Honiton Carers Support Group with a cheque for £1,000 to support towards the cost of transport to enable their participants to attend the group. Honiton Carers Support Group is a warm and welcoming Carers Group which supports unpaid carers throughout their caring role and beyond. A grassroots community project has raised an incredible £3000 in aid of their production of vital Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for community-based health and care workers in their first weekend. They are hoping to continue raising around £1000 a day to keep up with the demand for face shields in the local community.

New Date for Race for Life in Exeter

ORGANISERS of Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life in Exeter have announced a new date this autumn for the much-loved event.

The charity has postponed Race for Life events this spring and summer across the UK to protect the country’s health during the coronavirus outbreak. This includes the Race for Life 5K series which starts at Westpoint on 18th and 19 July, which can no longer take place.

The Family Law Company has raised £1600 for cancer charity FORCE in memory of a colleague who succumbed to the disease.

The Donkey Sanctuary has donated 3,000 packs of small chocolate Easter Eggs to the Sid Valley Food Bank in Sidmouth. The donated eggs will now be given to patients and staff at Sidmouth Hospital, local families who are supported by the Food Bank and key workers throughout the community.

'Nourishing' Hospiscare with charity round up

An ongoing fundraising initiative by Nourish Zero Waste has accumulated £1,600 for Hospiscare after customers were encouraged to donate just a few pence in each transaction.

The money will fund 16 visits to a patient in their own home by one of the charity’s clinical nurse specialists enabling patients to stay at home with their loved ones.

Dog lover, Debs Jones is used to getting in her daily steps as part of her job involves meeting GPs and NHS teams every day.

The Devon & Somerset health professional facilitator is part of a Cancer Research UK team, whose role is to support cancer prevention, doctors referrals, and promote healthy lifestyles in the county and the south west.

She is supporting Cancer Research UK’s ‘Walk All Over Cancer’ campaign which asks people to walk 10,000 steps a day, every day in March, and raise money for the charity’s life-saving research.
