Exeter City Community Trust, the charitable arm of Exeter City Football Club, is stepping into a new sport as it joins a major national initiative to grow women’s rugby in the city ahead of the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025.

A seven-strong team of hospice staff will be taking part in a brand new virtual event in October.

‘Team Hospiscare’, who all work for the local charity, will be completing a Marathon in a Month as part of the charity’s new virtual challenge event.

Since the national lockdown in March, Hospiscare’s fundraising efforts have been drastically impacted due to the closure of its charity shops and cancellation of events. The charity faces a loss of over £1 million this financial year.

Leading housebuilders Barratt and David Wilson Homes have donated £24,000 to Devon charities to help support homeless people, young men at risk of suicide and people in hospice care.

People in Devon will be able to give a big boost to three life-saving charities that have been heavily impacted by COVID-19.

Tesco stores across Devon are supporting the Tesco Health Charity Partnership’s appeal to raise money for Cancer Research UK, the British Heart Foundation and Diabetes UK from 1 to 13 September.

TV presenter and Alzheimer’s Society supporter Ruth Langsford is urging people across the South West to step out in support of the charity.

The UK’s leading dementia charity is calling on 3,112 people across the region – a combined number that attended last year’s Memory Walks in Bristol, Cheltenham, Plymouth and Bournemouth – to take part in a very different version of its most popular fundraiser.

Fundraisers in Devon are set to unite against cancer by taking part in a special Race for Life day this September.

Organisers Cancer Research UK were forced to cancel all 400 mass participation events in 2020 to protect the country’s health during the COVID-19 outbreak. This included Race for Life events in Exeter, Barnstaple and Plymouth.

The charity is expecting a staggering £160 million drop in income in the year ahead and has had to make a £44 million cut to life-saving research funding already in 2020.
