Exeter charity launches free "Joy Rides" to help people get cycling again

Ride On is launching a new, free cycling programme aimed at beginners, people returning to cycling after a break, or anyone looking for a sociable ride to help them get back outside this summer.

Called Joy Rides, the sessions launch on Saturday 18 July and run weekly through to September, alternating between Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings to fit around work, family, and shift patterns. Each ride follows one of three easy, mostly traffic-free routes around Exeter Quay, the Exe estuary, and Topsham, led by trained ride leaders and open to all abilities.

Children's bereavement charity to receive £1,000 donation

Post bereavement children’s charity Balloons Devon is set to receive a £1,000 donation from an initiative operated by a leading regional housebuilder.

The Exeter based charity applied to the Persimmon Homes South West Community Champions scheme, which was set up to provide financial support to charities, organisations and good causes in the region.

The McCarthy Stone Foundation has provided a welcome boost ahead of the Christmas period for local Topsham charity, the Estuary League of Friends, to help support those living with memory loss or dementia and their carers.

In a bid to make Christmas a little brighter this year, the McCarthy Stone Foundation has given the Estuary League of Friends a £250 donation, which will help with the running costs of its Memory Café, a support group offered to those living with memory loss or dementia and their carers.

Exeter veterans enjoyed a Christmas party with a difference at The Not Forgotten Jingle Bell Rock drive-in concert at Exeter Racecourse on Thursday 9th December.

Homeless is a 365 days a year issue but there is no doubt that during the winter months awareness is much higher. We all feel for the individuals that we see on the streets. Julian House is there to provide support that is not just life changing but often life saving.

The Exeter Christmas pop-up shop is back: Help raise vital funds for charity this Christmas

Cards for Good Causes, the charity Christmas card and gift retailer, had opened its doors in Exeter. The pop-up shop is in St. Martin's Church and is open Monday to Saturday 10am-4pm.

The not-for-profit organisation always has a huge selection of charity Christmas cards and seasonal gifts with proceeds donated back to local and national charities. In the last 10 years alone, they have raised over £40 million for charity and last year, the Exeter community raised an incredible £10,400 with the sale of charity cards and gifts in the pop-up shop.
