Devon charities announced as partners for huge weekend of live music

Four Devon-based charities have been selected to be official partners for the county’s biggest music event this summer.

TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham runs for four nights from Thursday June 25 to Sunday June 28, featuring headline shows from vocal powerhouse Teddy Swims, seven-time GRAMMY winner Alanis Morissette and global superstar Lewis Capaldi.

Each night will see a local charity given the opportunity to have a team of fundraisers on site and for 2026 Live At Powderham will support Devon-based charities who make a big impact in the communities they serve....

£2,000 raised by Ashfords' Charity Quiz

Raising money can prove difficult but should always be fun - and so it was at Ashfords Plymouth office's hugely successful charity quiz last night at the City College Plymouth restaurant.

A record breaking £2,000 was for raised for our chosen Charity of the Year, Children's Hospice South West at the Plymouth Office's annual Charity Quiz.

Some 60 clients and contacts took part, including University of Plymouth, Sutton Harbour, City College Plymouth, Brewin Dolphin, Charles Stanley, Plymouth College of Art and many more.

Golfers take to the green for Hospiscare

Organisers of one of Devon’s premier golf tournaments will be celebrating its tenth anniversary in style this summer, hoping to raise more than £100k for local charity Hospiscare.

More than 70 people have already signed up to take part in Hospiscare’s Golf Day, being held on Thursday, July 10, where they will have the chance to take home the Marnie Burgoyne Memorial Trophy.

The much-loved amateur tournament has raised around £92,000 to date and event organisers are hoping that this amount will rise to above £100,000 when they celebrate its tenth anniversary later this year...

Bordeaux Boys cycle 600 miles for Balloons

The Bordeaux Boys, AKA Steve Bulmer, Dan Fleming, Nick Kirby, James Osbent and Chris Sayer, are leaving their busy schedules behind for seven days to raise money for the charity Balloons.

On Friday 4 April the boys will cycle a total of 600 miles, from Exeter to Bordeaux, to raise money for the local charity.

Balloons provides free community-based support for children, young people and their families living in Exeter, Mid and East Devon, following the death, or before an expected death, of a significant person in their lives, such as a parent, carer or sibling.

Zumba for Headway Devon on Saturday

This Saturday (29 March) Headway Devon are hosting a fun-filled Zumba Party at Riverside Leisure Centre in Exeter to raise money for local people with brain injuries!

From 10-11am, qualified local instructor Johanna Morgan of JM DanceFit will be leading an hour-long Zumba class at the Riverside Leisure Centre, near Exeter Quay. The class is open for everyone to come along and enjoy and will be a great and sociable opportunity to burn some calories and try out a new activity.

Exeter firefighters wash cars for charity

This Saturday (29 March) firefighters are ready to add an extra sparkle to your day, by rolling up their sleeves for charity and washing cars!

Motorists are invited to take their car along to Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service headquarters at Clyst St George from 9am to 2pm.

Mickey their ‘live scent’ rescue dog, a three and a half year old springer spaniel will be there helping! Mickey is a great asset at incidents, because of the speed he can find a lost person, as well as cover vast areas in a relatively short time and access areas that would be too dangerous...

Ex-rugby players row to raise £8,000 for charity

Two former professional rugby players have raised thousands of pounds for two charities by organising a month-long rowing event.

Sam Blythe, 37, and Shane Kingsland, 27, who both played for Exeter Chiefs, started rowing on New Year’s Day for the event, called Janurow.

They rowed every day until the end of the month to hit their personal target of a million metres (1,000km) each.

They also recruited around 40 members of the public – with a total of 10.1 million metres (10,000km) rowed by those taking part.

Choir raises pound notes for charity

Exeter based charity Dream-A-Way which provides holidays and outings for people with disabilities and their carers recently benefitted from a donation of £1000 raised by the Exeter Police and Community Choir.

The cheque was presented to Dream-A-Way Chairman Jeff Merrett by Deputy Chief Constable Bill Skelly who is the President of the Exeter Police and Community Choir.

The £1000 were the proceeds of their Christmas Concert at Heavitree Parish Church on Sunday 15th December, a fabulous concert in a beautiful local church.

Following the success of their 34th annual fireworks display at Westpoint on 5 November, Exeter Round Table has donated over £10,000 to locally connected charities.

Those receiving donations include Devon Air Ambulance Trust, St Loyes Foundation, 21st Exeter Scouts, Exeter Sea Cadets, Exeter Homeless Dinner, The Olive Tree Association, Southbrook School, Exeter Youth Orchestra, Kibera in Need, St Thomas Methodist Church and South West Water (on behalf of The Prince’s Trust).

Rock Solid Race returned to Escot on Saturday 15th March. Local charity Hospiscare were delighted to have over 70 runners tackle the 5K Dash and 10K Rock Solid race between them raising thousands of pounds. The weather beautiful added to the atmosphere of the day, a far cry from the torrential rain and hail of last year. Thousands of people came from all over the country to take part in the popular event which boasts more obstacles per km than any other obstacle course race.
