Amy tackles huge challenge to thank FORCE

Twelve months ago, Amy Martin could barely run at all after a tough regime of cancer treatment.

But on Sunday May 24, she’ll be one of 440 people lining up as part of Team FORCE at Exeter’s Great West Run.

Amy aims to raise £1,000 for FORCE Cancer Charity to say thank you for all the support she has received from them since a diagnosis of breast cancer in late 2023.

A charitable fund in the memory a Devon woman killed in a car crash while on a round-the-world cycle challenge has passed its £10,000 target. Friends and family of Sharon Bridgman raised more than £11,500 in her memory after she was struck and killed in by a car in Bolivia in April. Gardens Open for Hospiscare

This year Hospiscare celebrates its 10th anniversary of Open Gardens. Hospiscare’s Open Gardens Programme runs from the start of May through to October 2014.

Members of the public open their gardens for others to enjoy, as they sit back and relax, or take tips for their own gardens. Some serve homemade refreshments, offer plant and book stalls and even entertainment. Entry and donations to the gardens raise funds for local end of life care charity, Hospiscare.

ART EXTRA is a Charity Event on the 28th and 29th June 2014 at the 'Old Pavilion' near Honiton which aims to raise over £10,000 in support of local charity Hospiscare.

The three local organisers: Mary Ann Wilmot, Gill Coates and Debbie Luck hope to raise funds to help with the building and running of Hospiscare’s new day hospice which will serve East Devon.

Hundreds of music lovers are expected to flock to ‘Proms in Bicton Park’, near Budleigh Salterton on July 18th. The proms will be held in the idyllic setting of the Italian Gardens. The event will start at 7.30pm with gates opening at 6.30pm. Tickets cost £15 for adults and £7.50 for children.

Devon Hotels and Restaurants Association raised over £1,000 for the Devon Air Ambulance Trust and Hospitality Action following a charity auction at their Annual Association Dinner, with each charity receiving £500 to put towards the valuable work they do.

A group of Mums will be taking part in the Chudleigh Carnival six mile road race on 18 July to raise much needed funds for Cancer Lifeline South West.

Sporting enthusiasts from a wheelchair badminton club in Devon will be able to enjoy new equipment, thanks to a generous donation from local heating oil supplier. The Devon Racqueteers Club was formed in 2008 and is now the largest wheelchair badminton club in the UK. Members enjoy the social side of meeting together and playing for fun and have also had considerable success winning many gold and silver medals at various competitions.
