Exeter charities join forces for new fun run
‘Heroes & Villains’ is the theme of a new running event being organised jointly by Exeter based charities, FORCE and Hospiscare.
The 5K and 10K mixed terrain runs are sponsored by leading chartered accountants Francis Clark and will take place at Powderham Castle on 7 September through some of the most beautiful countryside on the estate.
The event will be preceded by an enthusiastic warm up from South West Military Fitness and will be followed by the services of Exeter Physio to sort out any post-race aches and pains.
Sarah Daniels, Head of Fund-raising for FORCE, said: “This is an important fund-raising event and this year we decided it would be beneficial to collaborate with Hospiscare, our near neighbours on the RD&E Hospital site, to substantially raise its profile and increase numbers of entries.
“We are also encouraging participants to run wearing costumes of their favourite hero or villain which we hope will add even more fun to a wonderful and memorable family day out.
“We are very grateful to Francis Clark who have supported this event from the very outset and whose continued sponsorship makes it possible for our charities to benefit from the kindness of others.”
Francis Clark partner Sean Grinsted added: “FORCE and Hospiscare are locally based charities who do immeasurably wonderful work on behalf of the most vulnerable people in our community and we are honoured to continue supporting them in this way.”
Entry fees start at just £5 and there are prizes in all categories including the first three men and the first three women home in the 5K and 10K events, the first three boys and first three girls to finish in the family event and a special prize for the best fancy dress.
There will also be refreshments available on the day including the traditional bacon butties.
