Devon charities announced as partners for huge weekend of live music

Four Devon-based charities have been selected to be official partners for the county’s biggest music event this summer.

TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham runs for four nights from Thursday June 25 to Sunday June 28, featuring headline shows from vocal powerhouse Teddy Swims, seven-time GRAMMY winner Alanis Morissette and global superstar Lewis Capaldi.

Each night will see a local charity given the opportunity to have a team of fundraisers on site and for 2026 Live At Powderham will support Devon-based charities who make a big impact in the communities they serve....

Old Mill turn £50 into £6,000 for charity

Accountants and financial advisers Old Mill have turned £50 into £5,772.40 for Children’s Hospice South West.

Old Mill’s Exeter office took part in Ashfords Solicitors CHSW £50 challenge, where businesses are given £50 which they then use to raise as much money as they can for charity.

Six local businesses, including Ashford’s who put in five teams, Optix Solutions and Somerset College, took part in the challenge, which took place over 10 weeks. Old Mill raised by far the most with almost £6,000; in second place was AC Mole, with a total of £2,314.20 and in third was Bishop...

Chamber raises £1,000 for charities

Exeter Chamber of Commerce helped nine local charities raise over £1,000 at their Christmas Charity Auction Lunch last week, held at the Mercure Exeter Southgate Hotel.

The auctioneer for the special lunch was Mel Everett, weekend presenter for Devon/Cornwall Heart radio.

Items for auction included a ‘behind the scenes’ tour of the RAMM, in aid of the museum’s development trust, for six people to see some of the reserve collections; and an annual membership for four people at Devon’s Crealy Great Adventure Park to raise money for WESC Foundation. Christmas comes early to Hospiscare!

Exeter charity Hospiscare is celebrating after receiving an early Christmas present - the £3,540 left outside one if its city shops last month.

Today (Thurs) local police officially handed over the cash found outside the Hospiscare Cowick Street shop as the identity of the donor remains a mystery. No one came forward to claim the cash, the police are satisfied it was a genuine donation and Hospiscare has now banked the used £20 notes left in two carrier bags outside the shop window on November 10th.

Exeter-based charity Dream-A-Way are celebrating the success of the first fundraising event organised by their Sidmouth supporters.

It was a comedy night staged at the Marine Pub in Sidmouth .

Organiser Mike Rock said: “The night was a great success with over 70 attending comedians travelling down from Bath.

Biking Santas make a sight for sore eyes!

There was a sight to see around Exeter on Sunday for those doing some Christmas shopping as over a hundred motorbikers dressed as Santas, elves, reindeer and even a festive banana went through the city in convoy, taking part in a festive ride with a difference. The riders were on their way from their meeting place at Exeter Services to deliver piles of Christmas toys they were donating to youngsters with life-limiting illnesses at the Little Bridge Children’s Hospice South West in North Devon.

David Cameron, Michael Caines and Rick Stein are just some of the big names who have provided recipes for ‘Intensive Food’, a charity cookbook in aid of the Intensive Care Unit Trust Fund at the Royal Devon and Exeter hospital.

The recipe book, which contains a collection of over 300 recipes from ICU staff, friends and special celebrity guests, was launched on 4th the December at an event in the ICU. The event was attended by ICU staff, the Lord Mayor of Exeter, members of the RD&E Board of Directors, staff from across the Trust who have donated recipes and previous ICU patient...
