Devon charities announced as partners for huge weekend of live music

Four Devon-based charities have been selected to be official partners for the county’s biggest music event this summer.

TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham runs for four nights from Thursday June 25 to Sunday June 28, featuring headline shows from vocal powerhouse Teddy Swims, seven-time GRAMMY winner Alanis Morissette and global superstar Lewis Capaldi.

Each night will see a local charity given the opportunity to have a team of fundraisers on site and for 2026 Live At Powderham will support Devon-based charities who make a big impact in the communities they serve....

An Exeter charity has just set a new record in its work to prevent good food from being wasted and to support local community organisations across the city.

Devon and Cornwall Food Association, based in South Street, rescued over six tonnes of edible produce in December 2014, bringing the total saved last year to over 26,000 kilos.

Through its work with volunteers, in-date foodstuffs which are destined for landfill or incineration are collected daily and stored temporarily.

Committed to supporting local charities and organisations, Princesshay will be working with Age UK Exeter throughout the year on special events and fundraising activities.

Generous mum Niki gives the gift of time to bereaved parents

Niki Cunningham, founder of the Harry Cunningham Trust, has donated a ‘Cuddle Cot’ to the Maternity Unit of the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital to enable bereaved parents to spend more time with their babies.

The Cuddle Cot is a cold pad that can be wrapped around a baby that has been stillborn or has been miscarried late in pregnancy. The Cuddle Cot keeps the baby cool, meaning parents can stay with their child for longer after it has passed away. This popular event, which forms part of a county-wide fundraising campaign, will be held at the City Gate Hotel on the corner of St David’s Hill and Bartholomew Street East and starts at 8am. A leading Devon accountancy firm has raised almost £10,000 for local and national charities.

Simpkins Edwards LLP, which has offices across the county in Exeter, Barnstaple, Okehampton, Heathfield, Holsworthy and Honiton, specialising in family owned businesses, raised a total of £9,616.11 for charitable causes during 2014.

Charity wills scheme launches at Exeter City

Devon law firm Kitsons has teamed up with Exeter City Football Club to offer supporters of Exeter City the opportunity to make or update their Will, in return for a donation to the Club’s charity arm, Football in the Community.
