Charity champions at Mecca Exeter are celebrating after being invited to a celebration event, in the presence of HRH The Princess Royal, to celebrate their fundraising success for the charity Carers Trust.

The event being held at The Royal Horseguards Hotel on Wednesday 11thMarch, will celebrate the whopping £500,000 raised for the charity in the last year.

The partnership between the charity and The Rank Group Plc, which owns Mecca and Grosvenor Casinos, began in February 2014 and saw the North Street club take part in a host of different activities to raise much-needed funds.

Throughout the year team members at the club have organised a whole range of fundraising events, from 24/7 challenges to the most recent ‘Wear Your Onesie’ to work day, as well as going the extra mile by giving their time as volunteers to support local Carers Trust Network Partners.

Nigel Green, General Manager at Mecca Exeter, said: “It’s a real honour we are being recognised for the fundraising work we do. I can’t say thank you enough to our team members and kind-hearted customers who have helped support with all our fundraising efforts over the last year. There are no words to describe the importance of what these carers do in our community, and it’s an honour to know how much we’ve been able to help make life that little bit easier for them.”

Cherry Tatlow, Rank Charity Partnership Manager, said, “ We are delighted that The Princess Royal, as President of Carers Trust, has agreed to come along and help us thank all of our charity champions, who have worked tirelessly to make the first year of our partnership such a roaring success.  We are hoping that this year we will be able to raise even more money for this fantastic charity.”
