Premier Communication Electronics to launch CBRN vest at Ambulex 2013

Exeter-based Premier Communication Electronics (PCE) will launch its newest product, a military-style hands-free hydration vest, at the Ambulex exhibition in Coventry today.

The CBRN (which stands for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear and is pronounced C-burn) vest comes with a built-in space for a camel-pouch for immediate hydration and a number of pockets for communications equipment including two-way radios, external speakers, ear-pieces and PTT switches.

Everys Solicitors cycled between all of its nine Devon and Somerset branches in two days to raise £5,000 for the charity School in a Bag.

The team began its journey at the Bridgwater office in Somerset, finishing in Seaton, Devon, on the first day before heading off to the final finish line in Exeter the following day covering a distance of 95 miles.

One top Devon company is helping an animal charity with the little things that make a big difference.

Sparkworld has donated a selection of domestic appliances and kitchen tools to Living Coasts, Torquay’s coastal zoo and aquarium.

“These things may not be sexy, but they are vital!” says Jenny Paton from Living Coasts. “The hand blender is used for preparing fish for feeding birds. Council harnesses new talent for apprenticeship programme

Devon County Council’s latest intake of apprentices have been speaking about their experiences so far in the work place.

The Council hires apprentices annually. This year is the biggest intake as 25 apprentices are now working in a range of council services from social care to transport.

The latest group is continuing to work through qualifications in their allocated area as well as becoming an integral part of the team. They are also paid during their apprenticeship.

Exeter Racecourse has recorded its best ever results for conference and events bookings since it first significantly started to build this side of the business in 2005.
