Value of tourism in Teignbridge increases to £262m

New figures released by Visit South Devon reveal that the value of tourism to Teignbridge is rising. In 2015 alone, tourism contributed £9.8 million more to the local economy than it did in 2014, bringing the total amount brought in to Teignbridge by tourism to £262 million.

The figures come from an annual report provided to Visit South Devon and the Devon Tourism Partnership, which analyses trends in tourism year-on-year. Private sector firms in the South West continued to recover from economic uncertainty in October, driven by the fastest gain in new business since the start of 2015, according to the latest Lloyds Bank Regional PMI.

The South West PMI® registered 53.6, down slightly from September’s 54.5 but still indicating growth in business activity. A PMI reading above 50 signifies growth in business activity, and the greater the divergence from the 50 mark, the faster the rate of change.
