Multi award-winning Cofton Holidays is celebrating picking up a hat trick of coveted accolades. The park was awarded Silver Holiday Park of the Year and Bronze Sustainable Tourism at the Devon Tourism Awards. Cofton Holidays also received a silver award at the Taste of the West Awards for its on-site restaurant, Amelia’s Pantry.

Cofton Holidays’ success at the Devon Tourism Awards follows a year of investment in new accommodation, guest experiences such as the Woodland Adventure activity area, and sustainability initiatives including a biomass hub, which provides heat and hot water to Cofton’s 4,800 sq ft leisure and dining complex, cottages, and shower blocks. The family-run business has also continued its commitment to supporting its local community, regularly hosting public events including its hugely popular American and Classic Car Show which takes place each summer.

Cofton Holidays was one of 76 finalists whittled down from a record of 205 entries to the Devon Tourism Awards. This year’s Awards saw an increase to 25 categories in the competition which is now in its 8th year following its launch in 2010.

Amelia’s Pantry has enjoyed a tremendous year of its own, having been previously been shortlisted for the Food & Drink Devon Awards 2017 prior to success at the Taste of the West Awards. The café, open 363 days a year for breakfast, lunch and dinner, has been commended for the variety and quality of dishes on offer, its commitment to sourcing local produce, the calibre of service, and the overall dining experience. Popular dishes at Amelia’s Pantry include Devon belly of pork, homemade korma, and Devonshire burgers – which proved a particular hit with the Taste of the West judges during their ‘mystery shop’ judging visit.

Helen Scott, Director of Cofton Holidays, said: “Cofton’s success in securing three awards across the Devon Tourism Awards and Taste of the West Awards is a huge achievement. Over the past year we’ve worked long and hard to create a high-quality customer experience across every area of our business, founded on an unwavering commitment to quality and sustainability.”

Helen continued: “As a family business that’s been running for over 40 years, we recognise just how hard you need to work hard to create an experience that guests want to share and return to year after year, generation after generation. It takes passion, investment, commitment, care, vision and drive to go the extra mile. It also takes a dedicated team of fantastic staff who come together year-round to make our guests’ holidays truly memorable. We’re proud of our service, our staff and our place in the local community. We fly the flag for Devon.”

Cofton Holidays has previously won Gold at the Devon Tourism Awards, received highly commended in the Visit England holiday park of the year category, and has been awarded an AA 5 Pennant Gold accreditation at the AA’s Caravan and Camping Awards, one of the highest accolades in the world of camping and caravanning.

Taste of the West is the largest independent regional food group in the UK which champions food and drink producers, and the places that serve and sell them across Devon, Cornwall, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire. The Taste of the West Awards is an annual scheme intended to ensure that high standards are maintained and passion for great West Country food and drink is rewarded and celebrated.

Cofton Holidays’ facilities include the heated indoor pool with a splash pad area and hydrotherapy loungers, a gym, restaurant, pub, steam room, sauna, fitness studio, soft play area, playground, sports wall, outdoor pools and much more. Guests also have access to five coarse fishing lakes, miles of cycle paths and nature trails that take visitors through woodland to the golden sands of Dawlish Warren beach and nature reserve.

Free kids’ clubs take place each day throughout the school holidays, from Easter through to the October half term, as well as on Saturdays and Sundays year-round. Other free activities on site include the new £50,000 Woodland Adventure Area which features a 25m zip line, a climbing cage, rope ladders, balance beam, balance lines and scramble nets.
