Leading South West lighting specialist, Amos Lighting is to expand its retail offering after signing up for additional premises at Dart Business Park in Topsham.

The independent family-run business, which has been working out of a dedicated showroom sited in Exeter’s Marsh Barton since 2005, took possession of the building this month with the aim of opening to the public in early summer.

Amos Lighting Managing Director and Lead Designer, David Amos said: “This is a really exciting and important move for us. The second location will enable us to have a dedicated retail showroom and showcase many more inspirational ideas for lighting the home, as well as attract new customers through an increase in passing trade.

“We’ve been referred to on more than one occasion as Exeter’s ‘best kept secret’ and we’re hoping this expansion will help to change that perception.”

Previously the home of Topsham Car Sales, the new premises is currently undergoing major refurbishment work − including a new roof. The position, not far from Darts Farm, suits the aims of Amos Lighting perfectly, particularly as the company will be neighbours of complementary businesses including bathroom and kitchen specialists, Sapphire Spaces, and Oakloft.

Products to be showcased in Amos Lighting ‘Mark 2’ include a wide choice of exciting designs from Italy and France, such as Flos, Foscarini and Grok, as well as homegrown British brands including Tom Dixon and Elstead. There will also be a selection of contemporary furniture, and paint and wallpaper from Little Greene.

Family business Amos Lighting is owned and run by David and his wife, Nicola. During the past year, the company has grown its team which now numbers 15, including sales, finance and administration, some of whom will be moving across to Topsham later in the year. “If it wasn’t for the superb team of people we have, we would not even be considering such a move. Each one of them will play their part in making this expansion a great success,” Nicola explained.

The Marsh Barton showroom will continue to house the design element of the business, as well as a reduced number of retail products.
