Exeter Racecourse has teamed up with leading trainer David Pipe to launch an exciting new initiative designed to welcome families and inspire the next generation of racing fans.

To mark the partnership, David Pipe is inviting families to enjoy a free behind-the-scenes tour of his Culmstock yard, where visitors can experience the thrill of trying an Equicisor – a racehorse simulator that replicates the feeling of riding a thoroughbred in training. The tour provides a rare insight into life at a working racing yard and the exceptional care racehorses receive.

The experience will take place on Wednesday, February 18, and spaces are limited. Registration is by email only and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

The initiative forms part of Exeter Racecourse’s Guildhall Shopping Exeter Family Day, taking place on Sunday, March 22 – a fantastic day full of racing and free family entertainment. Visitors can enjoy the ever-popular children’s running race down the home straight, interactive quizzes, creative workshops including a racecard cover design competition, and plenty of prizes and goody bags.

Speaking about the event, David Pipe said: “I’m delighted to support Exeter Racecourse in encouraging families and young fans to discover more about racing. As a parent, I know how exciting it is for children to get hands-on experiences like this and see the care that goes into looking after these incredible horses. Racing has so much more depth than many people realize, and it’s fantastic to share that with the next generation.”

Jack Parkinson, General Manager at Exeter Racecourse, added: “Family Day at Exeter is always a highlight of our season, with something for everyone to enjoy. We’re thrilled to be working with David Pipe to offer families this unique behind-the-scenes experience ahead of the big day.”
