A roofing supplies business which set up its first store in February has launched its second location in Exeter, creating seven new jobs.

Roofbase has opened an 800 ft² shop, with a 13,500 ft² warehouse and a 6,000 ft² yard in Marsh Barton Trading Estate.

The company is an independent and specialist merchant providing for the full scope of roofing needs, with a team containing particular knowledge and skills in flat roofing. It aims to provide outstanding local service for roofing businesses in the area.

After launching in Swansea earlier this year, Roofbase also plans to open multiple sites in various UK locations by the end of 2018, with the next one expected to open in February.

The launch of the Exeter site also coincides with the creation of a further three jobs at the original Roofbase store in Swansea.

Steve Lloyd, managing director of Roofbase, said: “Swansea is progressing quicker than we had expected and any doubts that we had about the viability of the business have been dispelled by its performance.

“We have great confidence for opening up in Exeter and we are encouraged by the current success of our approach. We employ professional and highly competent staff, with an ethos of good service, making contractors feel welcome and responding to their needs in a timely fashion.

“Marsh Barton Trading Estate is the obvious place to set up in Exeter – it’s where all the tradespeople go for their supplies and it’s the perfect location.

“We are going to continue to set up sites in the places where I can find the right people to provide the service which is key to our company’s identity. All the staff in the new Exeter branch have many years of roofing experience and I am confident that they will successfully fulfil the needs of the area’s independent roofing contractors.

“In Swansea, we have found that larger contractors are starting to engage with us once they understand our professionalism and expertise. I expect the same thing to happen in Exeter and our other new sites as each branch becomes established with repeat customers and we are able to increase our local capacity.”

The Exeter branch of Roofbase will be staffed by Lee House as general manager, joined by Darren Woodcock as sales manager also responsible for sourcing a suitable site in Plymouth.
Completing the team will be sales executives Pete Chubb and Wes Matsell, warehouseman Charlie Johns and delivery drivers Mark Chidgey and Tony Chidgey.

Mr Lloyd said: “Between them our team has many decades of industry insight and expertise in all things roofing, and I have known both Lee and Darren professionally for many years.

“We’ll use this knowledge to deliver an outstanding personal service and look forward to establishing a long lasting relationship as the friendly and trusted trade supplier for local roofing contractors.”

Roofbase was set up by directors Steve Lloyd, Robert Speroni and Nigel Dickinson after the trio identified a niche for a truly independent merchant selling purely roofing supplies.

Together the three businessmen bring significant experience in the roofing supplies industry to the launch of Roofbase.com. Mr Lloyd, who lives in Chepstow, has worked in roofing supplies industry for almost four decades, Mr Speroni is managing director of waterproofing and green roof systems specialist Radmat, while Mr Dickinson has over 20 years’ experience in the roofing industry and now owns a successful building products business.
