South Devon based digital start up Filmily is delighted to have been recognised as ‘New Digital Start Up of the Year’ at the South West Digital Awards 2018.

Their first official industry award, the win follows a busy and exciting year for the unique app which is set to ‘change the world’ of video sharing as we know it.

Buzzing with innovation, start-ups and talent, the South West Digital Awards look to recognise the regions businesses, often overlooked in favour of London and other major UK cities.

Announced at the official awards ceremony which took place on Thursday 27th September at The Red House Plymouth School of Creative Arts, Director and co-founder Andy Doyle commented –

“It is a real honour to have been recognised for all the work we have done, and this is an exciting step for us in the Filmily journey. We truly believe that we have created something which will change the way content is shared, viewed and recorded and it is great to know that others can see the potential in Filmily - it definitely makes all of the hard work worth it. I am always inspired by the amount of talent and expertise driving the digital revolution in the South West and these awards were a brilliant celebration of that and an evening the Filmily team were proud to be part of.”

Headquartered in the creative town of Totnes, Filmily is the brainchild of Andy Doyle and Ian Kenny. Aiming to capture every moment, from every location at events both big and small, Filmily gives the power of broadcast to event-goers.

Enabling brands access to otherwise unseen content, with invaluable user insights, the totally unique application is patented and officially launched earlier this year, making its debut at The Cheltenham Races.Hosted in ‘Britain’s Ocean City’, Plymouth was seen as the perfect location for the awards, acting as a middle ground between the bustling cities of Bristol and Exeter, the coastal towns of Bournemouth and Poole and the country’s farthest hubs of Truro and Redruth.

Shortlisted candidates, sponsors and guests enjoyed a menu of locally-sourced, gourmet street food, uniquely created by Exeter’s Pickle Shack and were welcomed with a drink’s reception provided by Dorset’s Conker Spirit.

Walking away with the trophy for New Digital Start Up of the Year, other award categories included Young Innovator of the Year, Software of the Year and Best Digital Campaign. Winners on the night included Neighbourly for the Social Impact award and Clear B2B for best Digital Campaign. With over 70,000 digital jobs in the South West alone and over 580 digital start up launches, the region has seen a 21% increase in digital tech businesses*.
