Devon Chartered Accountants Thompson Jenner announce new Partner

Thompson Jenner LLP, one of Devon’s leading firms of accountants and business advisors, is delighted to announce the appointment of 30 year old Marcus Worthington as a Partner in the firm’s Exeter office from the 1st April 2020. The appointment continues the firm’s policy of recognising the contribution made by its talented and dynamic young team of managers. The firm now has eight Partners between its Exeter and Exmouth offices.

Marcus joined Thompson Jenner in 2012 having graduated with a degree in Mathematics from the University of Birmingham. Marcus worked as a senior within the firm’s audit team before progressing to Corporate Services Manager to manage a varied client portfolio of individuals, unincorporated businesses, trusts and limited companies, advising them on a range of accountancy and taxation matters. Marcus qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2017 and then went on to complete his Chartered Institute of Taxation exams in 2018 to become a Chartered Tax Advisor.

When not in the office, Marcus, who lives in Exeter, spends most of his time dragging his one-year-old daughter and long suffering dog around the Devonshire countryside either on foot or by bike.

Commenting on the appointment, Neil Curtis, Managing Partner, said, “I am delighted to congratulate Marcus on his appointment as Partner. His accounting expertise and broad business support experience coupled with his commitment and dedicated work over a number of years has contributed to our continued success. The feedback from clients is always excellent and Marcus has built many strong relationships. I am confident he will continue to provide a first class service and undoubtedly will continue to be a great asset to the firm going forward.”

He went on to say,” Clearly this is an extremely difficult time for many of our clients and Marcus along with the rest of the Thompson Jenner team are working around the clock to support  them and their businesses in any way we can. I wish him every success in his new role in these challenging times.”

Marcus said on his appointment, “I am delighted to be taking on the role of Partner and relish the opportunity to help and support our many clients in the current crisis. I am confident that we can work with our clients in the coming weeks, providing the help and support they need to get them back on the road to future success. I know that our clients have really appreciated our Partner led and client focused service in these troubled times.”

Neil Curtis concluded ''I am delighted to see another talented ‘home-grown’ member of staff coming through our firm to become a Partner. We continue to make a significant investment in the training and development of our staff, supporting them to achieve their potential as both accountants and proactive business advisors, ensuring that the service provided is of the highest standard. I know that Marcus will carry on our long tradition of excellence in both client service, technical accounting and business advice.”
