One of the UK’s highest regarded family law teams is continuing to expand. Stephens Scown LLP’s Exeter family team has seen its workload increase by 70 per cent over the last 10 years and it has just recruited its latest team member.

The team’s latest recruit, Kai Whicker has joined the employee-owned firm as a solicitor. His previous role was at a leading Hertfordshire law firm, where he specialised in complex and high net worth divorce. The team, which is based in Exeter, now has 24 members including five partners.

Stephens Scown’s family law team advises clients on a full range of issues including complex financial arrangements and high incomes. The team has substantial expertise in divorce cases involving business interests, inherited wealth and cases involving children.

Commenting on the growth of the team, partner and head of family Liz Allen, who is recognised as one of the UK’s leading divorce lawyers said: “The team is going from strength to strength and client demand means that we needed to expand. I’ve led the team for 11 years and I’m proud of our continued focus on delivering the very best for our clients.”

The team has top tier ranking in independent legal guides Chambers UK and Legal 500 and also includes some of the few recognised family lawyers in the Citywealth Leaders List outside of London.

Stephens Scown has over 300 staff, including more than 50 partners, across its offices in Exeter, Truro and St Austell. The firm has been ranked for five consecutive years in the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For. It is the first large law firm to become employee-owned.
