Browne Jacobson announces new Head and Deputy Head of Office for Exeter
Law firm Browne Jacobson has appointed education partner Julia Green as its new Head of Office for Exeter, with regulatory partner Nigel Lyons appointed as Deputy Head. The appointments will take effect from 1st March 2018.
The new appointments follow a strategic review conducted by the firm last year which recommended establishing new office leadership roles across its Birmingham, Exeter, London and Manchester offices to further strengthen the existing management structure, drive regional growth and build strong relationships with clients and local organisations. Each Head and Deputy Head will combine their new responsibilities with their existing client facing role within their specialist area of expertise.
Julia trained with Bond Pearce solicitors in Plymouth (now Womble Bond Dickenson). She joined Browne Jacobson in 2013 to set up and lead the firm’s education practice in the South West. She specialises in education law advice to schools, academies and colleges including statutory conversions of all types and property issues ranging from easements to development agreements. She is also a Member of Westcountry Schools Trust ( WeST) having been Chair of Governors of a Plymouth secondary school and a governor for Cornwall College.
Nigel joined Browne Jacobson in 2014 and specialises in all types of contentious regulatory advocacy. He has a particular emphasis on the agricultural sector, together with expertise in health and safety and environmental cases. Nigel advises in all areas where fatal and non-fatal accidents result in criminal investigations, including farms, factory sites, government and local authority properties, maritime incidents (both on and off shore) and all types of private and commercial premises.
Partner Julia Green said: “Both Nigel and I feel privileged to be appointed the firm’s first head and deputy head of office in Exeter.
“The Exeter office has delivered impressive growth year on year ever since we opened back in 2012. Our aim is to ensure that we achieve even greater success in the future by focusing on three key areas - the quality of our offering, delivering exceptional client service and investing in our people.”
Iain Blatherwick, Managing Partner at Browne Jacobson, added: “I would like to congratulate both partners on their appointment which will further strengthen our existing management structure and ensure the Exeter office has a strong voice both regionally and at the heart of our business.
“We have ambitious plans to grow our five offices over the next few years and the new heads and deputies will play an integral part in helping us to deliver that strategy.”
Browne Jacobson’s national headcount has risen to 977. The number of lawyers total 503, while partner headcount stands at 132 of which 35% are female.
