A former lawyer who hopes to turn his passion for pets into a business is on course to hit a crowdfunding target.

Matthew Dunne aims to help locally-owned vets practices compete on a level playing field with the powerful corporate owned operations.

He is attempting to raise £40,000 on Crowdcube.

And within seven days of the pitch going live to Crowdcube’s hundreds of thousands of investors, Local Vets is already 77 per cent funded.

Matthew said he had been overwhelmed by the support he’d received from investors.

He added: “It’s been fantastic to have so many people getting behind Local Vets. We’ve had investments ranging from £10 to £10,000 and every single one has helped us move towards our target. I’d like to shout out a huge thank you to everyone who has invested in the business so far.”

With more than £31,000 raised, it looks like investors are keen to support Matthew and his desire to help vets stay locally owned and run.
