Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted and two cars were damaged in a car park in Exeter at the weekend.

A 46-year-old local woman was assaulted by a man, who was known to her, in the Stone Lane Retail Park in Marsh Barton on Sunday 10 April at around 3.45pm.

The wing mirrors and a windscreen wiper were reported to have been damaged on a silver Volkswagen Touran, which was parked next to the Matalan store.

A black Skoda was also damaged during the incident.

A 25-year-old man, from Dawlish, was arrested on suspicion of common assault and criminal damage and later released on police bail until 16 May.

PC Mike Doidge, based in Exeter, said: “We understand the car park was busy at the time of the incident and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident.”
