Businesses join Park & Change scheme

Businesses are signing up to an innovative new scheme that aims to tackle/reduce traffic congestion in Exeter.

As well as reducing congestion and pollution, Park & Change will also help commuters get active through walking and cycling, and save money on fuel and parking costs by encouraging them to switch to alternative forms of transport for part of their journey.

The sites in support of the new scheme are Darts Farm (Topsham), Westpoint (Clyst St Mary), Woodleigh Coach House (Cheriton Bishop), Fingle Glen Golf Hotel (Tedburn) and a site in Pinhoe, totalling over 100 spaces for Park & Change.

Michelle Vardy, Owner of the Woodleigh Coach House is delighted to be a part of the new scheme saying, “I am very pleased to support the Park and Change scheme.  I hope it will help reduce pollution levels and also lower the travel and parking costs for people working in the City.”

Chris Lorimer, Chair of the Exeter Chamber’s sub group ESBN said: “We are delighted by the response from these businesses and we are now well on our way to establishing 10 sites for commuters to access Exeter. The continued growth of our city depends upon its ability to ensure that people can get in and out easily and the Park & Change initiative adds a further option to the range of choices available."

The new scheme, aimed at cutting congestion and pollution in the city, was launched at Exeter Chamber’s monthly lunch in October last year. The Chamber is working closely with Devon County Council and the Chamber subgroup, ESBN (Exeter Sustainable Business Network), to interact with local organisations in order to build greater awareness for the scheme from environmentally conscious companies.
