Stowe Family Law (Stowe) – the UK’s largest specialist family law firm –continues to widen its nationwide presence with the opening of its 44th office in Exeter

Helping to provide much-needed reassurance in a time of continued anxiety for many couples, the new office will help clients across Exeter access some of the country’s top family lawyers.

As the UK draws closer to the introduction of no-fault divorce in April this year, a recent study conducted by the firm revealed that over 76% of people living in the Southwest were not aware that divorce law in England and Wales is due to change.

Under the new no-fault divorce laws, the largest shake-up of divorce law since it began, couples will be able to divorce without the need to blame each other for the irretrievable break down of the relationship.

Less than 50% of those surveyed knew what no-fault divorce meant. Of those that were familiar with no-fault divorce, 55% felt that divorce will become quicker and 60% felt it would become easier.

The Exeter office is led by Senior Solicitor Amy Langford, who is experienced in all aspects of family law, including advising and representing clients in the process of divorce, unmarried separation, financial settlements, and child law matters.

Amy said:  “I’m delighted to head up the office in Exeter. I have practised family law for over 10 years and look forward to continuing to support clients across the region.  As part of the country’s largest specialist family law firm, we can offer people who live in Exeter and the surrounding areas access to an unrivalled nationwide network of knowledge and experience on their doorstep.

“As the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic continues, we are still seeing a sharp rise in enquiries across all our offices. Opening the new office in Exeter, our first in Devon, allows us to maintain the highest support levels for people going through a divorce or separation throughout the pandemic and beyond."
