A German artist who has been visiting Torquay with his English wife quite regularly over the past thirty years has joined forces with three experienced Devon artists. They would like to invite art students from Germany and the UK to attend courses at the English Riviera. A website has been set up to explain the benefits to interested parties. Back in Germany the painter who is also a member of the Devon Art Society has distributed posters and leaflets to a fair number of organisations near his home town and beyond. So the team are hoping to get people to spend a painting holiday in Devon adding to their skills and visiting this beautiful part of England.

In the meantime the artist is lecturing at adult education centres presenting slide shows of the West Country. He is also going to exhibit at the Spring and Summer exhibitions held by the Devon Art Society.

The Society will be holding their spring exhibition at St Anne’s Hall, Babbacombe Tues 29 April - Sun 11 May. The hall will be open every day 10am - 6pm. Admission is free. This year the Society are celebrating 102 years of exhibiting. They will be showing and selling original paintings, watercolours, pastels, oils, acrylics, mixed media, and more.

There will be over 300 works of art to admire created by dedicated proficient artists displaying excellent paintings from traditional landscapes to seascapes both figurative and abstract. The latter will be given special attention with the new Ogee Gallery Award for Abstraction/Expressionism.

Do not miss the opportunity to enjoy the exhibition.
