Nearly £6,000 raised for The British Heart Foundation!

The British Heart Foundation is Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Exeter’s chosen charity for 2026.

The charity was chosen by the President of Exeter CII, Theresa Atal, who is also Compliance Director for Trusted Financial Advice (TFA).

Theresa said: “The British Heart Foundation is a charity very close to my heart - excuse the pun. My father had heart issues, and my partner has a defibrillator fitted. Every pound raised, and all donations handed in their shops around the country, help make a difference to people’s lives.”

Campaign for Learning gearing up the nation for another Learning at Work Week

Campaign for Learning is celebrating the 24th Learning at Work Week this week (16th-22nd May). The theme, Learning Uncovered, is focused on raising the profile of lifelong learning at work and encouraging everyone to uncover and share their learning power.

Partner Nigel Lyons has been appointed head of the firm’s Exeter office, taking on the role from Julia Green who has held the post since 2018. Partner Claire Cornish has been appointed deputy head of Exeter. The appointments will take effect from May 2022.

Devon County Council and Cornwall Council have been awarded £1.8 million funding from the Department for Education’s National Skills Fund to run a third year of Skills Bootcamps .

The Train4Tomorrow Skills Bootcamps are flexible courses lasting up to 16 weeks, that offer adults the opportunity to retrain into in-demand job roles in emerging and growth sectors. Devon grant scheme receives half a million funding boost to support local businesses

The Heart of the South West LEP ’s Devon and Somerset inward investment grant scheme has received an additional £450,000 funding boost to support business growth.

The funding comes from the European Regional Development Fund, part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020, and invites foreign-owned companies to invest in the area to boost the region’s economy and create high-value jobs in Devon, Plymouth, Somerset and Torbay.

Mental Health Week: A third of employees in the South West aren’t comfortable discussing issues at work

Almost a third (31%) of employees in the South West don’t feel comfortable opening up about their mental health issues and concerns to anyone at work, a new survey shows.

Devon-based electric vehicle charging company aims to raise £400,000 to fund one hundred charging points

Wenea South West are aiming to raise £400,000 through a 10-year investment bond offer on ethical investment platform, Ethex.

The funds are intended to help them deploy at least 100 rapid electric vehicle (EV) chargers across 44 locations in Devon. This roll out of public chargers will enable more people across Devon to make the switch to electric vehicles, vastly improving air quality and cutting traffic carbon emissions.
