Help mend popular Dartmoor bridleway

There is not much time left to help raise £10,000 towards repairs to the badly eroded Nun’s Cross bridleway near Princetown.

The Mend Our Mountains campaign was launched by the British Mountaineering Council earlier this month and will run until 16 May.

Working with eight national parks, they hope to raise more than £100,000 to repair damaged paths.

This is a fundraising appeal with a difference - powered by crowdfunding.

Through this campaign on Dartmoor, BMC are trying to raise funds to repair severe erosion on the spectacular and ancient Nun's Cross...

The Wurzels to take centre stage at County Show

Westcountry legends, The Wurzels, will perform at a private event at the Devon County Show again this year, following their highly successful appearance last year.

The band will perform at the County Show during an exclusive invitation-only event organised by leading South West law firm Stephens Scown LLP on the evening of 19 May.

The four-piece group will be playing its famous hits including Combine Harvester and I am a Cider Drinker for livestock exhibitors and invited guests. The Wurzels were formed in 1966 and are still going strong, gaining new fans and playing gigs...

Police ready for big Devon derby

Devon and Cornwall Police have been planning for the big Devon derby as promotion chasing Plymouth Argyle arrive at play-off chasing Exeter with everything to play for.

Chief Inspector Richard Hooper-Bennett from the Operations Planning unit, said: “We have worked closely with both Plymouth Argyle and Exeter City Football Club to help ensure a smooth Devon derby this weekend.

"We are expecting a bumper crowd, and as a Force we are experienced in policing large scale sporting events such as this. We are looking forward to what should be a great occasion.”

Leading local advice charity, Citizens Advice Exeter, today releases the results from its second economic well-being survey. The first survey ran in September.

Travellers in Exeter will soon be able to book flights to international destinations including Orlando, Las Vegas, and the Caribbean – thanks to a new codeshare agreement between Virgin Atlantic and Europe’s leading regional airline, Flybe.

Unusual clues left at Seaton break-in

Police are appealing for help to trace a burglar who broke into a Seaton home and left behind their own belongings - a distinctive woolly hat and a sandwich.

The offender got into the house through an insecure door sometime between 11pm on Good Friday and 8.30am on Saturday [27 March].

Once inside the offender stole a silver iPad Air and a pair of new Vans trainers from their box.

However the occupants were left puzzled after the offender left behind some of their own belongings - including a Tesco tortilla wrap sandwich still in its packaging.
