Exeter Science Park’s Chief Executive, Dr Sally Basker, has announced her decision to retire from full-time work in June 2026.

This will promote a smooth transition and stability following the recent appointment of Dr Eulian Roberts as the new Chair of Exeter Science Park .

Benefit delays driving people into debt

Leading local advice charity, Citizens Advice Exeter, has published its advice trend statistics for the first five-months of the financial year. The charity has helped 12% more people with their advice and information when compared to the same period in 2015.

The advice trends over the period were as follows:

Debt

Overall, the charity dealt with 14% more debt enquiries. The main increases being:

• 49.0% about bankruptcy and debt relief orders • 27.8% about water arrears • 25.7% about council tax arrears

One of the region’s top insurance brokers announced their next charity challenge at a special anniversary party last week.

Northcott Beaton, based in Exeter, celebrated their 25th anniversary at a 90s themed celebration held at the prestigious Woodbury Park Hotel.

A team from temporary power specialist ide Systems will be taking on the Royal Marines Commando Challenge in Devon on Saturday (October 8).

The challenge, which takes place in Yettington, Woodbury Common, is a six-mile endurance course that raises money for The Royal Marines Charity and the Devon Air Ambulance Trust.
