Swimming spots in Teignbridge have reached bathing water quality standards with six ‘excellent’ ratings and one rated as ‘good’.

Teignbridge has welcomed the 2016 results of water testing at more than 400 outdoor swimming spots in England – called bathing waters - published today by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).

With Trustees’ Week running from November 7 to 13, three experts from The Family Law Company are keen to explain why they became trustees with local charities.

Livestock farmer guilty of animal cruelty

A Mid Devon farmer has pleaded guilty to failing to dispose of animal remains, failing to provide a suitable environment for his livestock and causing unnecessary suffering to a ewe.

The case was heard at Exeter Crown Court (4th November) following an investigation by Devon & Somerset Trading Standards Service (DSTSS).

Kenneth John Tucker, 67, of Curtis Gardens, Crediton, pleaded guilty to charges relating to his treatment of sheep, cattle, pigs and dogs under his care.

Co-cars, the South West's fast-growing hire by the hour car club, officially launched its first car in Cranbrook today, Friday 4th November 2016 outside the Youunghayes Centre.

Co-cars offers its cars for hire to members, by the hour, with pick-up and return to the specially reserved bays. Members can book 24/7 online or via a smartphone and use a smartcard and PIN to open the car.

A special service of thanksgiving will be held this Saturday in Exeter Cathedral, two weeks on from the devastating fire which ripped through historic properties on the Cathedral green and destroyed the historic Royal Clarence hotel. Exeter has seen a significant increase in visitor numbers and spend. Major events such as the Rugby World Cup 2015 and the European Rugby 7’s have raised the profile of the city nationally and internationally, placing it firmly on the map as a cultural and sporting destination.

Data provided by The South West Research Company Ltd for 2015 showed that staying domestic visitors increased by 5% to 423,000 compared to 2014 and spend by 12% to £86,302,000 on the previous year. Overseas visitors increased by 12% to 631,000.
