Exeter announces its bid to become the UK’s City of Culture in 2029 

Exeter City Council has today announced it will be submitting an expression of interest (EOI) for the prestigious UK City of Culture title. 

The City of Culture bid follows the culmination of five months extensive engagement and consultation with artists, creatives, cultural organisations and residents to shape the council’s commissioned new five-year Cultural Strategy for Exeter.

Sales and support staff at south coast based Hendy Group in Exeter have been honoured for their contribution to a record year at the company’s annual sales awards which was hosted by TV presenter Natasha Kaplinsky.

Hendy chief executive Paul Hendy paid tribute to all the award winners in a year which has seen the company grow with the acquisition of the south east based Lifestyle group.

The Post Office will open a brand new branch at WS Retail, 1 Sylvania Drive, Exeter, EX4 5DT on Monday 30 January at 1pm.

The branch will be the first Post Office in this part of Exeter. Post Office services will be offered from a low-screened, open-plan Post Office counter that is integrated into the retail counter, enabling customers to carry out a wide range of Post Office transactions alongside retail purchases.

A private health clinic - which began with a single practitioner - has become the largest of its kind in the south west in just seven years, delivering more than 1,000 hours of patient treatments every month.

A Topsham-based designer of luxury kitchens and bathrooms has doubled the size of its premises and created two new jobs after securing a five-figure funding package from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking.
