CCTV appeal after serious 'hit and run'

As part of the ongoing investigation into a serious 'hit and run' collision that took place in Kingsteignton on 8 April, police collision investigators have released a CCTV still that ‘just’ shows a dog walker that they would like to speak to (see the area highlighted with a red circle on image).

Exeter City FC remembers Blitz heroes

Exeter City and its Supporters Trust will be remembering two members of the Football Club who were killed on active service during the Exeter Blitz 75 years ago.

On 4 May 1942 a German Air Raid dropped 30 tonnes of high explosives, 10,000 incendiary bombs and three landmines on the city. A total of 282 people are known to have died including two with strong Exeter City FC connections: former player Albert Potter and Club Chairman Lieutenant Colonel Frederick Hunter.

Dozens of mice dumped in Exeter

The RSPCA is appealing for information after 31 young mice were found abandoned in a cage in Exeter on Thursday. (27 April.)

A passer-by found the dumped cage on the pavement on Buddle Lane at around 1pm, and quickly took the mice to a local vets.

RSPCA inspector Marije Zwager is keen to find out more about what happened to the little mice and who may have left them on the roadside.

The Exeter Festival of South West Food and Drink opened its doors at 10am this morning. With over 100 producers exhibiting over the next three days there is plenty for visitors to sample and enjoy!

The festival is running today, tomorrow and Bank Holiday Monday at Northernhay Gardens and Exeter Castle.

Nominations deadline extended for Community Transport Awards

The deadline for nominations for this year’s Community Transport Awards has been extended.

The awards ceremony is open to anyone working or volunteering in the community transport sector and Devon County Council has announced that nominations must now be submitted by Monday 8 May.

There are three categories of awards which honour the exceptional work of staff and volunteers in Devon’s Community Transport services:

£20,000 boost for Killerton roof repairs

Killerton House, near Exeter, has received a major £20,000 boost towards their overall fundraising target of £100,000 to plug the gaps in its leaking roof. Viridor Credits Environmental Company has awarded a grant via the Landfill Communities Fund to help to bring the historic roof scape back to life.
