Fans with tickets for Olly Murs’ cancelled Powderham Castle show have been offered replacement tickets for one of the singer’s alternative show dates.

Police launch investigation after alleged sexual assault in Exeter

Police are appealing for witnesses following an alleged sexual assault in Exeter City Centre this weekend.

Police were contacted following reports that a woman in her 20’s was sexually assaulted near Buffet City, between 2.00am and 2.10am on Sunday 23rd July.

A 31-year-old man was arrested in connection to this incident and has since been released under investigation as police enquiries continue into this matter.

Showcasing the future of green energy in Exeter

A team of local experts made up of renewables company Beco Energy, Exeter City Council and protective film specialists, Packexe, have recently collaborated to produce a showcase for the future of green energy in Exeter.

The exciting project is part of a wider initiative to encourage business based on Marsh Barton and Sowton Industrial Estate to ‘go green’ and improve the local environment through renewable technologies.

The event was a roaring success, with tempting canapés supplied by Taste Catering and plenty of wine, speeches and laughs from everyone.

Further overnight closures on Bridge Road

Overnight closures on Bridge Road in Exeter will continue this week.

The closures will be in place from 8.30pm to 5.30am from Monday 24 July to, and including, Thursday 27 July to enable ongoing surfacing and lining work.

Resurfacing is also being carried out during the remaining night-time closures this week, from 8:30pm to 5:30am tonight (Thursday 20 July) and from 10pm tomorrow (Friday 21 July) to 5am Saturday morning.

All of the work is weather dependent and may have to be cancelled at short notice.

Met Office wins project of the year at national awards

The building complex that houses part of the Met Office’s new supercomputer at Exeter Science Park was declared one of the best projects in the UK at the construction industry’s annual ‘Oscars’.

Willmott Dixon’s work to build the facility that houses the new supercomputer was declared Project of the Year in the £20m-£50m value category at the Construction News awards, with judges hailing this ‘unique’ building. Judges also commended on the ‘outstanding’ results on a ‘hugely technically challenging project, being a 60 degree-leaning cantilevered structure’.
