Citizens Advice Exeter raises £700 for justice for all

A team of walkers from leading local advice charity, Citizens Advice Exeter, raised £725 when they took part in the Exeter Legal Walk on the 6th June.

The Exeter Legal Walk celebrates the continued work of the legal profession and advice sector in protecting people’s rights and promoting equal access to justice for all. The Legal Walk is one of many similar events which run across England and Wales raising funds for free local legal advice charities.

The event was run by the South West Legal Support Trust, part of a nationwide group of regional Legal Support Trusts set up under the guidance of the Access to Justice Foundation.  Walkers were joined by Helen Lindsay-Funn, High Sheriff of Devon, Sue Aggett, Presdent of the Devon and Somerset Law Society, Endurance Arthur, Partner at Tozers, Gemma Rowe, Vice Chair of CILEx Devon Branch, District Judge Stephen Arnold, Nominated Judge of the Court of Protection and the Right Worshipful the Lord Mayor of Exeter Councillor, Ms Lesley Robson.

Citizens Advice Exeter Chief Executive Steve Barriball said: “We are very grateful to our team of walkers and to everyone who sponsored our team.  Despite the heavy rain and wind, it was important to stride out and raise money for this vital cause.  Access to free legal advice is crucial if people are to exercise their rights and the funds raised through these events will help to continue the much needed advice that the wider sector provides.“

So far, the Exeter Legal Walk has raised almost £3,000.
