Network Plus Envolve opens Exeter Science Park office to support major water programme

Network Plus Envolve, a joint venture between Network Plus and Envolve Infrastructure , has established new offices at Exeter Science Park to support the delivery of a new framework with South West Water.

Approximately 15 engineers, project managers and technical specialists will be based at Envolve’s new offices within the George Parker Bidder Building - a net-zero carbon facility at Exeter Science Park. The team is expected to grow significantly, potentially doubling within the next 12 to 18 months.

Exeter College celebrates record breaking year with 1,000th Apprentice

Exeter College is celebrating a record breaking year by celebrating welcoming their 1,000th apprentice.

The 1,000th Apprentice is Jordanna Broom who is a higher engineering apprentice at the University of Exeter. Jordanna enjoyed her initial engineering training and has decided to pursue her career through one of the college’s higher level apprenticeships.

To celebrate this milestone and the ongoing relationship between the college and the university, a memento has been made by the University’s engineering apprentices and presented to the college.

Exeter Chiefs have bolstered their squad ahead of the new 2017/18 season with the acquisition of powerful South African lock Wilhelm van der Sluys.

People in Teignbridge are invited to have their say on proposals to introduce a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) across the district to help deal with dog mess problems.

A consultation launches today asking people to put forward their views on a proposed PSPO which, if approved, will help make the enforcement process simpler and give council staff the power to issue on-the-spot fines to irresponsible dog owners.

La Petite Bouchée Wins Gold

JUST months after arriving in its new mid Devon home, French restaurant La Petite Bouchée, has won one of the region’s most prestigious dining awards.

The bistro, which began life in south east London as a vintage French Camper van seating just four people, has been awarded the gold Taste of the West gold award for Best Restaurant in the South West.

A total of 35 worthy community schemes have had Parishes Together Fund applications approved by the decision making panel of East Devon District councillors between April 2016 and March 2017. The same funding is available again now.

Following the devastation of The Royal Clarence Hotel in October 2016 and months of careful deconstruction that have taken place since, the first plans will be put forward this week when outlines for the external façade are shared with the people of Exeter.

Work to replace traffic signals at a busy junction in Exeter will get underway on Monday 31 July.

Essential maintenance is needed on the signals at the junction of Blackboy Road/Polsloe Road/Pinhoe Road and Mount Pleasant Road in Exeter. The traffic signals, poles and electrics are at the end of their serviceable lives and will be replaced, while repairs will also be carried out to cable ducting. New public spaces protection orders introduced in Exmouth and Sidmouth

East Devon District Council has recently introduced a second group of public spaces protection orders (PSPOs) which are local measures used to control a range of unacceptable activities.

This new order, made on June 6 2017, relates to possession of intoxicating substances (including alcohol), urination and defecation (in public), aggressive begging, and behaving in a way likely to cause harassment or intimidation. The order applies in a large area in the centre of Exmouth. The alcohol provisions only also apply to a smaller area of Sidmouth.

Employee owned law firm increases profit share staff pay-out

The first large law firm in the UK to bring in employee ownership has shared £800,000 equally between all of its eligible staff members. Exeter law firm, Stephens Scown LLP - the current holder of the UK Law Firm of the Year title from the British Legal Awards - has made the pay-out, which is an increase of 10 per cent on last year.
