If you’ve been watching any running events this year, you may have seen ‘#Shoeperman’, a lifesize running shoe which is the alter ego of Martin Pearce. Martin is now running Exeter’s Great West Run in support of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Martin was originally stumped for a design for his costume, so CHSW arranged a colouring competition for the children to design it for him. Martin has already completed the Virgin London Marathon wearing his shoe and, as well as Exeter’s Great West Run, he has also secured a place at the Royal Parks Half Marathon.

He runs all his races in support of CHSW and said: ‘: “I wanted to raise funds that would benefit children and also where I could really see the effect the money raised was having.  I have a colleague who has benefited from the support at CHSW and following a tour I have seen the fantastic work they do for the whole family.’

Josh Allan, Community Fundraiser at CHSW said: ‘It’s wonderful having Martin’s support and we can’t wait to see #Shoeperman in action at Exeter’s Great West run!’

If you see #Shoeperman training around the South West, please give him a wave and a cheer! You can also show your support at: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/ShoeperMan
