Educated Recruitment celebrates 4th birthday

Staff at Edcuated Recruitment celebrated the company’s fourth birthday on Thursday last week (17 August).

Marie Cleave, company director started the business in her home single handedly providing schools in the Teignbridge and Torbay area with supply teaching staff.

Since then, she has opened an office in Newton Abbot with five members of staff.

The company has grown from strength to strength and now cover schools across all of Devon scoping from Plymouth all the way up to Bideford.

If you’ve been watching any running events this year, you may have seen ‘#Shoeperman’, a lifesize running shoe which is the alter ego of Martin Pearce. Martin is now running Exeter’s Great West Run in support of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW). Peregrine falcon dies of suspected poisoning in Devon

Officers are investigating an incident after being contacted by staff at Glendinning Quarry in Ashburton, on Tuesday 15 August, following reports of an injured Peregrine falcon.

The falcon had been located on the floor of the quarry which is home to a breeding pair of Peregrine falcons.

Devon and Cornwall Police Wildlife Crime Officer, PC Josh Marshall, sought that the juvenile Peregrine falcon was given the immediate care it required. However, the bird died the next day.

BBC launches new Weather Watchers Guide

The BBC has launched a new guide for BBC Weather Watchers in partnership with independent think tank Doteveryone and Devon-based charity Libraries Unlimited. At a launch event held at Exeter Library on Thursday 10th August, Bill Thompson and Olivia Lockyer from the BBC’s Make it Digital team unveiled a sixteen-page printed guide, Getting online with Weather Watchers, designed to help people feel more confident about using digital technology.

Teignbridge is set to celebrate the opening of the new Dawlish Countryside Park on 3rd September with a free event where families and canine friends are welcome.

Traffic management arrangements on Bridge Road will be changed tonight (Thursday 17 August).

Motorists heading outbound from Countess Wear Roundabout towards Matford Roundabout will be able to travel over the Swing Bridge again from around 8pm.
