An Exeter care professional has been announced as a national finalist by one of the UK’s biggest providers of homecare services, Bluebird Care.

Jackie Fyall, who has been working as a registered manager in Bluebird Care’s Exeter office, was a national runner up in the Registered Manager of the Year category at the 2017 Bluebird Care Awards last week. At the awards, Jackie received the title Regional Registered Manager of the Year.

At a special afternoon tea hosted at Fortnum and Mason in London, Jackie took part in a panel interview, pitting herself against five other regional winners chosen from more than 200 Bluebird Care offices across the UK.

The judges included Mike Padgham, Chairman of the United Kingdom Homecare Association; Colin Angel, Policy Director of the United Kingdom Homecare Association; and David Brindle, Public Services Editor at The Guardian.

Judge Mike Padgham said: “I was delighted and very honoured to be invited to help judge these awards. For me, the value of homecare and the work that people do, can never be over-estimated. Working round the clock, in all weathers shows a particular, special type of dedication that is rarely seen and it was a pleasure to join in with something that celebrates homecare and the invaluable role it plays in improving the quality of life of our oldest and most vulnerable citizens.”

Director of Bluebird Care Exeter, William Flint, said: “We are extremely proud of Jackie reaching the national final. The Bluebird Care Awards are a celebration of the extraordinary passion, professionalism and dedication of our care teams and we are delighted to see Jackie recognised for her exemplary contribution to caring for people in their own home.”

Jackie said: “Although I am disappointed not to have won the national award, I am so pleased to be nominated and receive the regional title. I had a fantastic day at the Awards ceremony meeting likeminded people from all over the UK.”

The Bluebird Care Awards winners were recognised for the outstanding, and often extraordinary, contribution that they have made over the past year in improving the lives of Bluebird Care customers.
